Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of blueberries, 1 cup of water, and 1/2 cup of sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is dissolved and the blueberries have released some of their juices, about 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let the mixture cool. Once cooled, strain the blueberry syrup through a fine-mesh sieve to remove solids.
- In a pitcher, combine the strained blueberry syrup with 1 cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice and 3 cups of cold water. Stir well to combine.
- Add fresh basil leaves to the pitcher and let it sit for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
- Serve over ice, garnished with extra blueberries and basil leaves if desired.
