Ingredients
- Shortcrust Pastry
- Milk
- Vanilla Extract
- Egg Yolks
- Granulated Sugar
- Strawberries
- Powdered Sugar
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll out the shortcrust pastry and fit it into a tart pan, trimming any excess dough.
- Prick the bottom of the pastry with a fork and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown. Let it cool completely.
- In a saucepan, heat the milk and vanilla extract over medium heat until just simmering. In a bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and sugar until light and creamy.
- Slowly add the hot milk mixture to the egg mixture, whisking continuously to temper the eggs. Strain the custard back into the saucepan.
- Cook the custard over medium heat, stirring constantly until it thickens and coats the back of a spoon. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- Pour the custard into the cooled tart shell and spread it evenly. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to set.
- Before serving, top the tart with fresh strawberries and dust with powdered sugar if desired. Serve chilled and enjoy!
Notes
- Use fresh strawberries for the best flavor.
- The custard can be made ahead of time and chilled.
