Description
Make crispy homemade corn dogs from scratch with our easy recipe! Fun for parties and a delightful treat for the family.
Ingredients
- Hot Dogs
- All-Purpose Flour
- Cornmeal
- Baking Powder
- Granulated Sugar
- Milk
- Egg
- Vegetable Oil
Instructions
- Start by heating vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, baking powder, sugar, and a pinch of salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together the milk and egg until well combined.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just mixed; do not overmix.
- If your hot dogs are not already skewered, carefully insert popsicle sticks into each hot dog, leaving enough stick exposed for handling.
- Dip each hot dog into the batter, allowing excess batter to drip off.
- Carefully place each coated hot dog into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 3-5 minutes.
- Remove the corn dogs and let them drain on a paper towel before serving.
Notes
- Consistency is Key: Your batter should be thick enough to coat the hot dogs but not too thick that it won’t stick.
- Temperature Matters: Ensure the oil is hot enough for frying; if it’s too cool, your corn dogs will absorb too much oil.
