Description

Make crispy homemade corn dogs from scratch with our easy recipe! Fun for parties and a delightful treat for the family.

Ingredients

  • Hot Dogs
  • All-Purpose Flour
  • Cornmeal
  • Baking Powder
  • Granulated Sugar
  • Milk
  • Egg
  • Vegetable Oil

Instructions

  1. Start by heating vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, baking powder, sugar, and a pinch of salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the milk and egg until well combined.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just mixed; do not overmix.
  5. If your hot dogs are not already skewered, carefully insert popsicle sticks into each hot dog, leaving enough stick exposed for handling.
  6. Dip each hot dog into the batter, allowing excess batter to drip off.
  7. Carefully place each coated hot dog into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 3-5 minutes.
  8. Remove the corn dogs and let them drain on a paper towel before serving.

Notes

  • Consistency is Key: Your batter should be thick enough to coat the hot dogs but not too thick that it won’t stick.
  • Temperature Matters: Ensure the oil is hot enough for frying; if it’s too cool, your corn dogs will absorb too much oil.
