Ingredients
- All-Purpose Flour
- Sugar
- Baking Powder
- Salt
- Unsalted Butter
- Fresh Cherries
- Almond Extract
- Milk
- Sliced Almonds
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, mix together all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Add in the cold butter and rub the mixture with your fingertips until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gently fold in the chopped cherries until evenly distributed.
- In a separate bowl, mix almond extract and milk. Add this to the flour mixture and stir gently just until combined.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface, knead lightly, and form into a circle about 1-inch thick.
- Cut the circle into wedges and place on the prepared baking sheet, brushing the tops with cream and sprinkling sliced almonds if desired.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown on the edges.
- Let cool slightly before serving warm, and enjoy!
