Ingredients

  • All-Purpose Flour
  • Sugar
  • Baking Powder
  • Salt
  • Unsalted Butter
  • Fresh Cherries
  • Almond Extract
  • Milk
  • Sliced Almonds

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add in the cold butter and rub the mixture with your fingertips until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Gently fold in the chopped cherries until evenly distributed.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix almond extract and milk. Add this to the flour mixture and stir gently just until combined.
  6. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface, knead lightly, and form into a circle about 1-inch thick.
  7. Cut the circle into wedges and place on the prepared baking sheet, brushing the tops with cream and sprinkling sliced almonds if desired.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown on the edges.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving warm, and enjoy!
